Palm Sunday Solos

Having arrived Saturday afternoon in Duncan, I had a little more time to prepare with the organist. She and her husband then treated me to dinner. The chicken lasagna was quite good.

I sang TLH 56, “Jesus Came, The Heavens Adoring” (Lyrics, MIDI) after the Old Testament reading in both services. The last verse was done a cappella and fortissimo. Soloing is fun, but the bummer lies in not singing the neglected harmony.

For Maundy Thursday I got two assignments, partly I suppose because it’s my last day in Duncan for a while. :) Following the OT reading will be TLH 164, “Twas on That Dark, That Doleful Night” (Lyrics, MIDI). Pastor then requested that TLH 261, “Lord Keep Us Steadfast In Thy Word” (Lyrics, MIDI) follow the sermon. 261 will be completely a cappella. I’ll leave the Turks and Papists (PDF) out of it. :)
