We took the girls down to the Softball Showdown for Autism today in Grove City, OH. Seven teams from TV and radio stations and one team composed of Ohio State alumni and softball players participated. We watched most of the games and the Home Run Derby, but it got too hot to watch the championship game between NBC4 and Ohio State.
The Buckeye Guy was there, and he had parked his uniquely decorated car quite close to the softball diamonds. I don’t think he took a hit, but some of the balls hit during the Home Run Derby came close.
Graeter’s Ice Cream, Raising Cane’s Chicken, and others supplied food at the cost of donation. All money raised went to Autism Speaks.
Jerod Smalley, an NBC4 sports reporter and a father of a child with autism, MC’d the event and announced the players for some of the games and the Derby.
