I stayed four nights at the Days Inn in Medicine Hat, AB.
The Days Inn has no fitness room. When I stayed there about 10 years ago, they instead had arranged for free usage of the YMCA for its customers. I didn’t get a chance to verify if that was still the case. The indoor pool had a two-story tall spiral water slide.
The room had good space, and the bed was pleasantly firm. Six pillows topped the king-size bed. Heating was adequately handled by a window unit. Only two outlets were available at the desk, and no outlets were available at the bedside table. The desk was good, on the large side. The bathroom had good space as well, and the water had good heat and pressure.
My laundry was mishandled by the company the hotel contracts for laundry service. My clothes were sent to another hotel, and I got another person’s clothes. I notified the hotel immediately, and they fixed the situation in two hours’ time, before the laundromat clothes. The hotel does not provide laundry slips to note inventory, so I wrote my own slip. If I had not made my own slip, the laundromat admitted, they would not have been able to return my clothes to me.
The continental breakfast had a good choice of fruit and hot/cold cereal. Apple and orange juice were available. The coffee was a bit weak. Egg rounds and sausage patties were served in catering pans. The hotel was within walking distance from three restaurants; two of which we tried and found acceptable. Free chocolate chip cookies were always available at the front desk.
Entrance and egress from the hotel was fairly simple, but the parking was full one night; we got the last space. About CA$20/night cheaper than the Holiday Inn nearby, the Days Inn does the job: just watch the laundry.
